A graduate from both the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Physician Chai Binhua is a registered Traditional Chinese Medicine physician.
Coupled with over 10 years of experience in counselling and academic training in counselling and psychology (Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology with honours from National University of Singapore and Masters in Social Sciences Professional Counselling conferred by Swineburne University of Technology), Physician Chai is intrigued by the interaction between the mind and the body and sought to improve health via a holistic approach to treatment.
Influenced by his counselling background, Physician Chai believed in empowering individuals to take ownership of their health. This was reflected in his collaborative approach to TCM practice, where patients would have to be prepared to do their part in working towards recovery and maintenance. Physician Chai believed that his role as a healer includes the actual treatment together with information sharing and coaching patients on leading sustainable lifestyles. Change is difficult and he hoped to partner with patients on their life journey.
Ideology aside, Physician Chai love learning and refining treatment skills. Apart from his practice as a counsellor, he also volunteers at the Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution and serves the elderly at Beach Road with Love Connect Free Clinic. It is deeply satisfying to “get good” at something.
